This will be a fun opportunity to learn the basics and take the plunge into straight line quilting or free motion quilting (or both!). You will finish your whole cloth baby quilt with a simple fold-over binding. Michelle will share tips on prepping materials for quilting, stitching technique, machine capabilities, thread and material choices, tension and more.

While prior quilting experience is not required to take this class, you must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Don't know how to use a sewing machine? Take our Sewing Machine Basics class!

Required materials:

You will then learn the basic chain and single crochet stitch and use this skill to create a gorgeous scarf.  This class is great for ages 10+, as well as returning students who are ready to learn some new crochet stitches!

In this 4 hour class, Michelle will show you how to cut and construct your own thigh-length kimono, giving tips on choosing fabric, accurate cutting, and simple seam finishes.

Ages 16+ (we are happy to consider younger students on a case-by-case basis - if you are under 16 and would like to take this class, please email lauren@craft-south.com). While prior garment experience is not required to take this class, you must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Don't know how to use a sewing machine? Join Brittney for an evening of patchwork and take a scrappy trip around the world! Creative strip piecing creates one of a kind blocks that add up to one bold quilt. These blocks look intricate but sew up quickly and are a blast to make. Using scraps makes a uniquely colorful quilt, while working with a more refined color scheme allows for more controlled results. Brittney will share tips getting accurate cutting and seaming, as well as how to achieve a few different looks to make the scrappy quilt of your dreams!

While prior patchwork experience is not required to take this class, you must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Don't know how to use a sewing machine? Take our Sewing Machine Basics class!

Required Materials (available in our shop):

  • This quilt uses 2.5” x (at least) 16” strips, so it’s perfect for scraps, jelly rolls, FQs, or yardage. 

    For a large baby quilt: 120 strips/2.25 total yards/15 FQs

    For a lap/throw size: 180 strips/3.25 total yards/23 FQs

Join Arounna of bookhou in creating your own design using the Oxford punch needle. This traditional technique of rug hooking is a fun and quick way to create an image that can be used for wall hangings, pillows and rugs.

In this workshop, you will create a wall hanging while learning the basic fundamentals of this fun and addictive technique. All materials are included (including pre-printed designs!) and no experience is required.

Workshop fee includes the following:

  • 3 hours of instruction

  • All supplies are included - students will receive the oxford punch needle, a wood frame pre-stretched with ‘monks’ cloth, and a selection of yarn

  • Use of our marking, measuring, and cutting tools
