In this 4 hour class, Michelle will show you how to cut and construct your own thigh-length kimono, giving tips on choosing fabric, accurate cutting, and simple seam finishes.

While prior garment experience is not required to take this class, you must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Don't know how to use a sewing machine? Take our Sewing Machine Basics class!

Build your own medallion quilt from the center out with Erin Burke Harris. In this hands-on class, learn all the skills you need to make a successful medallion quilt. Using Erin’s book, Make Your Own Medallion, you’ll select blocks and borders to add to a medallion of your choosing. The class will explore how scale, fabric prints, shapes and colors come together to make a successful medallion quilt. Erin will help you tackle all the quilt math necessary and teach you how to achieve perfect fitting borders. You’ll leave with a good start on your medallion quilt and a plan on how to finish it.

Students must come to class with a center medallion already made to use as the starting point of their quilt. This can be as simple as a 12” finished quilt block. Erin will provide a few options, but you are welcome to choose something of your own.

This workshop is best for intermediate sewers who have some basic quilt piecing experience.

Join Arounna of bookhou and learn how to create and develop your own design for block printing! In this workshop, students will learn the process of carving designs into soft linoleum, which they will then use to print a repeat pattern on fabric.

After printing, students will learn the art of indigo dying to overdye their fabric with natural indigo. Each student will leave with a large piece of cloth that can be worn as a scarf or used as a pillow cover or wall hanging. All materials are included, and no prior experience is required!

Get your snuggle on this spring in a handmade kimono! Our Cozy Kimono is a snap to make, a delight to wear, and we guarantee yours will be uniquely one of a kind! In this 4 hour class, Michelle will show you how to cut and construct your own thigh-length kimono, giving tips on choosing fabric, accurate cutting, and simple seam finishes.

While prior garment experience is not required to take this class, you must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Don't know how to use a sewing machine? Take our Sewing Machine Basics class!

Class fee includes:

  • 4 hours of instruction

  • Use of our cutting, marking and measuring tools

  • Use of our Janome sewing machines

  • Use of our Kimono pattern (30.5” - 44” bust) (pattern is available for in-class use. If you would like to trace the pattern for future makes, please plan on arrive at least 30 minutes early to allow time for tracing)

  • Water & snacks

  • 15% of your materials purchases on class day (come in a little early and let us help you pick out your discounted materials)

Required Materials:

Lightweight fabrics are ideal for this garment - shot cotton, lawn, and voile will all do fine! Beginners will want to avoid rayons, silks, or anything with a loose weave (such as double gauze). Please note: this pattern includes sizes up to a 44” bust.

  • 3 yards fabric for all sizes

  • Matching thread

This class is a great middle ground between a group class and a private lesson - you get to pick the project/pattern that YOU want to work on, and know that there is a knowledgeable instructor on hand to help you & answer questions whenever you need it! Suitable for all levels, our Open Sewing Night is a fun way to make your sewing a little more social, while also learning the techniques and projects that interest you the most!

While prior garment experience is not required to take this class, you must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Don't know how to use a sewing machine? Take our Sewing Machine Basics class! Please note that this is a garment class and we do not cover patchwork or quilting techniques. If you are a true beginner who needs one-on-one attention, we encourage you to sign up for a private lesson instead!

Let us set you up for a successful knitting journey! 

Techniques you will be learning: Cast-On, Knit and Purl Stitches, Binding-Off, as well as several other tips & tricks to get you on your way to creating your favorite scarf, and more! This class is suitable for ages 10+.

Materials:

  • 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn (we love Manos variegated colors!)

  • 1 set of 32" circular knitting needles (size US 8 or 9) (We love our Olive Woods!)

Class includes:

  • 3 hours of instruction

  • Snacks & drinks

Michelle will share tips on prepping materials for quilting, stitching technique, machine capabilities, thread and material choices, tension and more.
