Fitting + Cutting Half Day: Friday, January 25th, 2 - 6pm
Instruction: Saturday + Sunday, January 26th + 27th, 10a - 5p
Round out your me-made wardrobe with the classic button-up shirt! This workhorse wardrobe staple is a classic for a good reason - it’s versatile, timeless, and can be made in a variety of fabrics!
Students will learn how to make button-up shirts using the Archer pattern from Grainline Studio - a classic design with all the necessary features (button placket, collar stand, yoke, and sleeve placket), available in sizes 0-18 (please note that students can sub for the Cashmerette Harrison shirt if they do not fit in the Archer size range). Lauren will go over everything you need to know to make a professional looking shirt - choosing the correct size, tips for a perfect collar + stand, sleeve cuffs and plackets, as well as the best button placement for each individual body (no more bust gape!)! We will kick off the weekend with a half day to choose your size, cut and mark your fabric. Construction will begin on Saturday and go all through the weekend. Please note that while this is not a fitting class, Lauren will cover basic flat pattern alterations and minor fitting adjustments as needed.
Prior garment experience is required to take this class. You must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine, as well as reading and following a sewing pattern. If you are a beginner, we recommend starting with an easy-to-handle fabric to minimize any stressful situation in class!
Class fee includes the following:
18 hours of instruction
Use of our marking, measuring, cutting, and sewing tools
Use of our Janome sewing machines
15% off all in store purchases throughout the weekend
A goodie bag filled with some helpful notions & materials
Coffee, water, snacks throughout the weekend
Specific material requirements and schedule will be sent to participants in advance of workshop. Click here to see Nashville Area info to help plan your trip!
