November 11th, 1-5pm
Our full day Building Block Dress class was so popular, we have decided to offer a mini version! Liesl Gibson, the designer behind Oliver + S children’s sewing patterns, will show you how to alter the elements of a classic girls’ dress pattern to make a dress of your own design. Using her new book, Oliver + S Building Block Dress: A Sewing Pattern Alteration Guide, Liesl will teach you basic patternmaking/alteration techniques to get you started in developing your own unique dress pattern. We’ll cover some of the techniques covered in the book, like altering sleeves, silhouettes, pockets, necklines, hems, closures, and linings. At the end of the workshop you’ll understand the process for altering a pattern and you’ll have the confidence to finish developing the pattern by combining the elements presented.
Class fee includes the following:
4 hours of instruction
Use of our Janome Sewing Machines
Use of our measuring, marking, cutting, and sewing tools
15% off all in store purchases (yes, machines too!)
A goodie bag filled with some helpful notions & tools
Coffee, water, and snacks!
This class uses the pattern blocks from Liesl's book and tracing paper, which you will need to purchase prior to class (available in-store at Craft South). Liesl also suggests getting the book in advance so you have time to look over your project before the workshop. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your specific questions.
