We are combining the art of weaving with our love of fabrics and offering a new class to expand your weaving skills! Rug Twine Weaving takes colors and textures to a whole new level by using a traditional loom - but with FABRICS (!!!) - to create functional, utilitarian pieces of art such as place mats, table runners, rugs, and more! This type of weaving is a great introduction for the beginner or a wonderful way to expand on your current skills - and it's a fabulous way to use up fabric scraps from previous projects! Come relax and work with your hands while learning this centuries-old heritage craft with local fiber artist, Dana Stein. After completing this project, you will have a unique, one-of-a-kind place mat to use and enjoy!

Even a beginner knitter can confidently tackle this project - the Aran weight yarn means it will knit up quickly, and the raglan yoke means easy fitting without a lot of fuss! Hannah will walk you through everything you need to know to make your very own Lotte Sweater - including reading and following a knitting pattern, increases and decreases, and seaming! This class will meet once a month for three months - the first month you will complete the body, the second month you will knit the sleeves, and the third month will cover seaming the whole thing together.

Are you a beginner who wants to learn how to read and follow a sewing pattern? By popular demand, we have added an INTERMEDIATE option to this class! If you have taken this skirt class before, join us again and learn how to add pockets! Lauren will teach you how to flawlessly insert in-seam pockets to your skirt (or any garment of your choice), which will elevate your skirt to be not only gorgeous, but also gorgeously functional!

Even a beginner knitter can confidently tackle this project - the Aran weight yarn means it will knit up quickly, and the raglan yoke means easy fitting without a lot of fuss! Hannah will walk you through everything you need to know to make your very own Lotte Sweater - including reading and following a knitting pattern, increases and decreases, and seaming! Students will chose to make one large Santa (12") or multiple small Santa's with silky mohair beards. We are combining the art of weaving with our love of fabrics and offering a new class to expand your weaving skills! Rug Twine Weaving takes colors and textures to a whole new level by using a traditional loom - but with FABRICS (!!!) - to create functional, utilitarian pieces of art such as place mats, table runners, rugs, and more! This type of weaving is a great introduction for the beginner or a wonderful way to expand on your current skills - and it's a fabulous way to use up fabric scraps from previous projects! Come relax and work with your hands while learning this centuries-old heritage craft with local fiber artist, Dana Stein. After completing this project, you will have a unique, one-of-a-kind place mat to use and enjoy!

Spend three hours with our talented friend and wonderful teacher, Lauren Taylor, and leave with a beautiful new skirt!  This is a great introduction to garment sewing, because the fit is flattering yet relaxed and the pattern is suitable for many fabric types.  Lauren will teach you how to accurately cut and skirt with a fixed waistband in front & elastic in back, and also how to adjust to the pattern for a custom fit & length.

By popular demand, we have added an INTERMEDIATE option to this class! If you have taken this skirt class before, join us again and learn how to add pockets! Lauren will teach you how to flawlessly insert in-seam pockets to your skirt (or any garment of your choice), which will elevate your skirt to be not only gorgeous, but also gorgeously functional!

Ready to take your home machine quilting skills to the next level? In this class, modern quilt designer and fabric designer,  Carolyn Friedlander, will focus on free motion quilting with your home sewing machine. She’ll cover design strategy by discussing how to approach your project and what to put where. We’ll move into the technical stuff by exploring the mechanics behind making those design strategies come to life. Students are encouraged to bring one quilt top that will be a part of the class discussion. In looking at each student's actual work,all students will gain a varied perspective of strategy and design implementation.  Carolyn will have several of her finished works on hand and will spend time with students one-on-one in order to guide your unique project hopes.

Class fee includes the following:

Join weaving extraordinaire + owner of Black Sheep Goods, Ashley Owens, for a fun afternoon of weaving and leave with a beautiful wall hanging that you will be proud to show off! This class is perfect for the absolute beginner or if you need to brush up on some of your skills!  Ashley will discuss an overview of types of materials and different weaving techniques- including warping, how to make fringe, changing colors and finishing. This class is appropriate for all ages 12+!

Required Materials (available in our shop):

- Loom

- Tapestry needle

Class includes:

-Warp, dowels, and yarn (you may purchase your own yarn to use if you are particular about the color)

-3 hours of instruction

-Snacks & drinks

-15% all in store purchases before, during and after on class day (drop in a little early and let us help you pick out your materials for class!)

Amanda will teach you the various stitches required to embroider your own sampler. You can take your beautiful embroidered piece and then turn into a lovely keepsake item for yourself or as a gift.

Ready to bump those patchwork skills to the next level? Join Brittney for an evening of patchwork and learn the secrets behind improvisational piecing!  This class will teach you techniques to let the piecing process happen organically - utilizing scraps and yardage with no rulers or patterns involved! Jessica will cover stripes, improv log cabins, as well as free-styled traditional blocks. Essentially, take everything you know about quilting, throw it in a blender - and let's see what comes out! This class is best suited for those who have prior experience with patchwork.

-scraps, fabric yardage, and/or fat quarters (18x22") of print or solid fabric
