Join local knitter and wonderful instructor, Hannah Thiessen, and knit your first garment! The newly released Lotte Cardigan features a basic shape that you can customize with buttons and embroidery. Even a beginner knitter can confidently tackle this project - the Aran weight yarn means it will knit up quickly, and the raglan yoke means easy fitting without a lot of fuss! Hannah will walk you through everything you need to know to make your very own Lotte Sweater - including reading and following a knitting pattern, increases and decreases, and seaming! This class will meet once a month for three months - the first month you will complete the body, the second month you will knit the sleeves, and the third month will cover seaming the whole thing together.

Required Materials (available in our shop):

-Quince & Co. Osprey yarn in the yardage needed for your size

-32" circular needles in appropriate size for your particular yarn

Talented, modern quilt designer and fabric designer,  Carolyn Friedlander, will be visiting Craft South to share her lovely quilting techniques including needle-turn applique.  Focusing on her new and stunning quilt pattern, Everglade, Carolyn will share her expert design and technical advice while encouraging you to take your own directions.  She will have several of her finished works on hand and will spend time with students one-on-one in order to guide your unique project hopes.

Class fee includes the following:

  • 11 hours of instruction

  • Use of our Janome Sewing Machines

  • Use of our measuring, cutting, and sewing tools

  • 15% off all in store purchases (yes, machines too!)

  • A goodie bag filled with some helpful notions & the Everglade Quilt pattern

Spend three hours with our talented friend and wonderful teacher, Lauren Taylor, and leave with a beautiful new skirt!  This is a great introduction to garment sewing, because the fit is flattering yet relaxed and the pattern is suitable for many fabric types.  Lauren will teach you how to accurately cut and skirt with a fixed waistband in front & elastic in back, and also how to adjust to the pattern for a custom fit & length.

December Afternoon Sewcial is all about the holidays! We will encourage your child to get into the holiday spirit and sew some amazing gifts for their loved ones :) Please note that this month, we are only running the Sewical for 2 weeks, and there will be a required materials kit to purchase in addition to class fees (but it'll be so worth it!)

Afternoon Sewcial is appropriate for 4th grade or 8+ in age with some sewing experience. While we provide help, supervision, and a project direction, students are encouraged to be creative and take their own crafting avenues.  Price includes use of studio and supervision.  Most materials are covered, however we will let you know if finishing a project requires an extra materials fee.  

There is no penalty if you have paid for class and cannot make it, you can simply use your paid pass for your next available Wednesday!  You can purchase in advance and we will take role, and check off attendance to keep track.

Are you a beginner who wants to learn how to read and follow a sewing pattern? Maybe you just want to take advantage of the dedicated sewing time (while also having a lifeline nearby in case you need it!)? Whatever your garment focus, Lauren and Michelle will be there to help!

Make a soft sculpture Santa, Saint Nicholas, wizard or gnome with our wonderful friend and master of all things wooly, Wren of Northern Wren! In this class, you will learn the basics of needle felting three dimensional figures by entangling wool to create hanging or free-standing ornaments. Students will chose to make one large Santa (12") or multiple small Santa's with silky mohair beards. Students will have an opportunity to design charming wooly figures by choosing colors, shaping bodies and noses and multiple eye designs in this two hour introductory class.

Michelle will teach you how to accurately cut and seam the pants, as well as guide you through the process of adding an elastic waistband. The class pattern includes child's sizes 1-8.

We will encourage your child to get into the holiday spirit and sew some amazing gifts for their loved ones :) Please note that this month, we are only running the Sewical for 2 weeks, and there will be a required materials kit to purchase in addition to class fees (but it'll be so worth it!)

Afternoon Sewcial is appropriate for 4th grade or 8+ in age with some sewing experience. While we provide help, supervision, and a project direction, students are encouraged to be creative and take their own crafting avenues.  Price includes use of studio and supervision.  Most materials are covered, however we will let you know if finishing a project requires an extra materials fee.

Afternoon Sewcial is back and better than ever! Every month, participants will focus on a different project so they can end the year with a whole new arsenal of techniques under their belt! November Afternoon Sewcial is all about sewing for your environment- and personalizing your space!! Each week will focus on a different home sewing project - pillows, organizers, room decor and an apron! Use it as an excuse to makeover your dining table and show it all off for Thanksgiving!

Afternoon Sewcial is appropriate for 4th grade or 8+ in age with some sewing experience. While we provide help, supervision, and a project direction, students are encouraged to be creative and take their own crafting avenues.  Price includes use of studio and supervision.  Most materials are covered, however we will let you know if finishing a project requires an extra materials fee.  

There is no penalty if you have paid for class and cannot make it, you can simply use your paid pass for your next available Wednesday!  You can purchase in advance and we will take role, and check off attendance to keep track.  Purchasing a whole month at a time will give you a savings!

Join Brittney for an afternoon of patchwork and learn the snazzy little Dresden Plate. You will fall in love with this gorgeous and versatile block - it can be as simple or elaborate as you choose to make it, and beautiful either way! It is best to have a little patchwork experience already or at least sewing experience before taking this class- but it is perfect for all ages!  Brittney will share tips getting accurate cutting, seaming, and present inspiring layout ideas. In one session your can create a multitude of little blocks to join for a baby quilt, pillow or the beginnings of a full size quilt.

Required Materials (available in our shop):

-8-12 fat quarters (18x22") of print or solid fabric

-1 yard solid or printed fabric to sew your circles onto (enough for a pillow front and back)

Afternoon Sewcial is appropriate for 4th grade or 8+ in age with some sewing experience. While we provide help, supervision, and a project direction, students are encouraged to be creative and take their own crafting avenues.  Price includes use of studio and supervision.  Most materials are covered, however we will let you know if finishing a project requires an extra materials fee.

Or apply two basic stitches and create almost any scarf your heart desires! Join Jenny Reichert as she teaches the knitting essentials to get you going and create something you love! This class is great for brand-new beginners, as well as those who need a little brush up on their knitting skills, as well as for those who've ever wanted to learn a faster way to knit! Jenn will be demonstrating both Continental & English style, with emphasis on Continental, but all styles are welcome!

Techniques you will be learning: Cast-On, Knit and Purl Stitches, Binding-Off, as well as several other tips & tricks to get you on your way to creating your favorite scarf, and more!

One skein of worsted weight yarn (something beautiful & that your hands love to touch!)

One set of 16” circular knitting needles, sized appropriately for your yarn

There is nothing these ladies can't handle - from the very beginner to the very advanced, they've got you covered!

Want to learn how to cut perfectly matched plaids? Need some help tweaking a pattern to get a custom fit? Have a hankering to sew your own button-up, but need some moral support along the way? Are you a beginner who wants to learn how to read and follow a sewing pattern? Maybe you just want to take advantage of the dedicated sewing time (while also having a lifeline nearby in case you need it!)? Whatever your garment focus, Lauren and Michelle will be there to help!

  • Whatever you want to work on! Make sure to bring your pattern, fabric, and necessary notions.

Spend three hours with our talented friend and wonderful teacher, Lauren Taylor, and leave with a comfy pair of pajama pants!  This is a great introduction to garment sewing, because the fit is relaxed and the pattern is suitable for many fabric types.  Lauren will teach you how to accurately cut and seam the pants with a dual elastic/drawstring waistband. 

Class includes:

  • 3 hours of instruction
  • Use of our cutting, marking, and measuring tools
  • Use of our Janome sewing machines & thread
  • Pajama pants pattern
  • Water & Snacks
  • 15% off all your materials on your class day

Please bring the following materials:

  • 3 yards of woven fabric (cotton, lawn and rayon are all great - or try our new plaid flannels!)
  • 3/4" elastic as long as your waist size  + a few inches
  • 2 yards of 1" cotton twill tape
