Get your snuggle on this fall handmade kimono! Our Cozy Kimono is a snap to make, a delight to wear, and we guarantee yours will be uniquely one of a kind! In this 3 hour class, Michelle will show you how to cut and construct your own thigh-length kimono, giving tips on choosing fabric, accurate cutting, and simple seam finishes.

While prior garment experience is not required to take this class, you must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Don't know how to use a sewing machine? Take our Sewing Machine Basics class!

Class fee includes:

  • 3 hours of instruction

  • Use of our cutting, marking and measuring tools

  • Use of our Janome sewing machines

  • Use of our Kimono pattern (30.5” - 44” bust) (pattern is available for in-class use. If you would like to trace the pattern for future makes, please plan on arrive at least 30 minutes early to allow time for tracing)

  • Water & snacks

  • 15% of your materials purchases on class day (come in a little early and let us help you pick out your discounted materials)

Required Materials:

Lightweight fabrics are ideal for this garment - shot cotton, lawn, and voile will all do fine! Beginners will want to avoid rayons, silks, or anything with a loose weave (such as double gauze). Please note: this pattern includes sizes up to a 44” bust.

In this class, instructor Lizi Kelly will guide you through the steps needed to “paint” using embroidery floss, which gives your piece lots of texture as well as twice the color! You will also learn how to transfer a pattern to the fabric, which makes it easy to embroider your own custom designs in the future! This class includes all the supplies you need so you can jump right in and stitch your way to a fun new piece of art that you’ll be proud to show off!

While you do not need to be an embroidery master to take this class, we do recommend that you have already taken our Intro to Embroidery Primer class to get the most out of your class experience.

We are combining the art of weaving with our love of fabrics and offering a new class to expand your weaving skills! Rug Twine Weaving takes colors and textures to a whole new level by using a traditional loom - but with FABRICS (!!!) - to create functional, utilitarian pieces of art such as place mats, table runners, rugs, and more! This type of weaving is a great introduction for the beginner or a wonderful way to expand on your current skills - and it's a fabulous way to use up fabric scraps from previous projects! Come relax and work with your hands while learning this centuries-old heritage craft with local fiber artist, Dana Stein. After completing this project, you will have a unique, one-of-a-kind place mat to use and enjoy!

Techniques you will be learning:

  • How to lace a peg loom using yarn as your warp

  • How to Twine fabrics together to form weft

  • How to match colors and textures together

  • How to bind off and finish your piece

Instruction: Saturday + Sunday, January 26th + 27th, 10a - 5p

Round out your me-made wardrobe with the classic button-up shirt! This workhorse wardrobe staple is a classic for a good reason - it’s versatile, timeless, and can be made in a variety of fabrics!

Students will learn how to make button-up shirts using the Archer pattern from Grainline Studio - a classic design with all the necessary features (button placket, collar stand, yoke, and sleeve placket), available in sizes 0-18 (please note that students can sub for the Cashmerette Harrison shirt if they do not fit in the Archer size range).  Lauren will go over everything you need to know to make a professional looking shirt - choosing the correct size, tips for a perfect collar + stand, sleeve cuffs and plackets, as well as the best button placement for each individual body (no more bust gape!)! We will kick off the weekend with a half day to choose your size, cut and mark your fabric. Construction will begin on Saturday and go all through the weekend. Please note that while this is not a fitting class, Lauren will cover basic flat pattern alterations and minor fitting adjustments as needed.

Prior garment experience is required to take this class. You must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine, as well as reading and following a sewing pattern. If you are a beginner, we recommend starting with an easy-to-handle fabric to minimize any stressful situation in class!

Class fee includes the following:

  • 18 hours of instruction

  • Use of our marking, measuring, cutting, and sewing tools

  • Use of our Janome sewing machines

  • 15% off all in store purchases throughout the weekend

  • A goodie bag filled with some helpful notions & materials

  • Coffee, water, snacks throughout the weekend

Learning to crochet keeps your hands busy and your brain active - gives you a great sense of accomplishment! In this class, Angela will teach you how to pick out your yarn and crochet hook for your project. You will then learn the basic chain and single crochet stitch and use this skill to create a gorgeous scarf.  This class is great for ages 10+, as well as returning students who are ready to learn some new crochet stitches!

Required Materials (available in our shop):

  • 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn (approximately 438 yards)

  • Size J crochet hook

Join Michelle Abegg for a fantastic intro to the world of machine quilting. This will be a fun opportunity to learn the basics and take the plunge into straight line quilting or free motion quilting (or both!). You will finish your whole cloth baby quilt with a simple fold-over binding. Michelle will share tips on prepping materials for quilting, stitching technique, machine capabilities, thread and material choices, tension and more.

While prior quilting experience is not required to take this class, you must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Don't know how to use a sewing machine? Take our Sewing Machine Basics class!

Required materials:

  • 1 1/8 yard fabric for top of quilt

  • 1 1/4 yard fabric for back of quilt

We are combining the art of weaving with our love of fabrics and offering a new class to expand your weaving skills! Rug Twine Weaving takes colors and textures to a whole new level by using a traditional loom - but with FABRICS (!!!) - to create functional, utilitarian pieces of art such as place mats, table runners, rugs, and more! This type of weaving is a great introduction for the beginner or a wonderful way to expand on your current skills - and it's a fabulous way to use up fabric scraps from previous projects! Come relax and work with your hands while learning this centuries-old heritage craft with local fiber artist, Dana Stein. After completing this project, you will have a unique, one-of-a-kind place mat to use and enjoy!

Techniques you will be learning:

  • How to lace a peg loom using yarn as your warp

  • How to Twine fabrics together to form weft

  • How to match colors and textures together

  • How to bind off and finish your piece

Materials required:

  • Peg Loom

  • 1 yard light colored fabric

  • 1 yard dark colored fabric

  • Yarn (25', any color)

This 3 hour class is the perfect way for you (and your friends!) to learn all the skills you need to start knitting! Great for brand new beginners or for those who've forgotten and want to refresh their knitting skills. Let us set you up for a successful knitting journey! 

Techniques you will be learning: Cast-On, Knit and Purl Stitches, Binding-Off, as well as several other tips & tricks to get you on your way to creating your favorite scarf, and more! This class is suitable for ages 10+.

Materials:

  • 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn (we love Manos variegated colors!)

  • 1 set of 32" circular knitting needles (size US 8 or 9) (We love our Olive Woods!)

Class includes:

  • 3 hours of instruction
