The Talented Heather Jones

We are so excited to be welcoming Heather Jones this weekend for a Lecture & Patchwork Day in the Craft South Studio.  We adore her straightforward but meticulous approach to patchwork and are always inspired by the modern art references that are present in everything that she does.

Heather's new book, Quilt Local, is a refreshing look at quilt making and an involved course on allowing the world around you with all of it's graphic qualities to lead you into a new and intuitive direction for making quilts.  She proves it does not have to be complicated to be beautiful, yet provides you with the perfect dose of technique, including color theory, to take the inspiration and pair it with confidence as you find your own voice in patchwork.  The book is inspiring and devouringly beautiful to behold, and we feel certain it will stand up above trend in your library.

And if you're not quite able to make it to Nashville for her Quilt Local Lecture or Patchwork Day, then we would like to direct you to the exciting new Block of the Month series of classes available on Creativebug (our favorite online classes!).  Throughout 2016 Creativebug will be issuing a new quilt block class every month taught by the alternating quilt-y trio of Heather Jones, Anna Maria Horner (me!) and Carolyn Friedlander.  And we are THRILLED to be bringing you a beautiful new quilt kit each month based on the Block of the Month to inspire a direction for making your own quilt!  Above is a look at Heather's Ohio Star for January, and what we did with it!  Kits are available online and in the shop now.

Be well, xoxo, and Happy New Year!
